1. More Micro-Awakenings
“Big dreamers” (those who often remember dreams) would be more sensitive to external stimuli, especially auditory, suggests a study published in 2017 in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience. These ambient noises would cause micro-awakenings long enough during their sleep to allow them to remember their dreams. When the dream is followed by a brief awakening, it reactivates its contents, allowing the awakened hippocampus to take charge of it to hold it in memory. For once the dream is produced, it is usually forgotten unless it is held by the hippocampus, which is used to store information, explain neurologists specializing in memory. People who remember their dreams would therefore experience more micro-awakenings during their sleep than those who have no memory of them. 2. Alarm Clocks
Another reason for remembering our dreams is because we generally wake up with alarm clocks. When we wake up on our own without an alarm, our sleep stages would have been completed. So, within 5 minutes after we wake up, we forget half of our dreams. Contrary, when we wake up with alarms, our sleep cycle may not have been completed during its normal course and will be interrupted at any point in the cycle. 3. Irregular Sleep Schedules

4. Sleep apnea or other disturbers
Dream recall may also be influenced by sleep problems. Untreated obstructive sleep apnea may also contribute to fragmented REM sleeps because of disrupted breathing caused by the airway muscular relaxation. Some people may experience improved dream recall as a result of this. Sleep apnea can also cause REM sleep deprivation. Narcolepsy patients also have abrupt sleep transitions, which lead to dream recall, sleep-related hallucinations, and sleep paralysis. Sleep deprivation, stress, and mental problems as well as over-alcohol consumption can all disrupt sleep and increase dreaming and remembering.
