Is it possible to avoid nightmares? If so, how to stop getting nightmares? Dreams are often associated with happy scenarios. However, when they take an uncomfortable turn, you will probably find yourself in the middle of a nightmare.
Sometimes these bad dreams wake you up in the middle of the night or it may cause you to wake up with troubled feelings. Although it is not unusual to have a frightening dream, some people may want to avoid the stress and negative emotions that bad dreams create.

The more comfortable your bed and bedroom, the more likely you are to enjoy a peaceful, nightmarish sleep. Also, if you get nightmares, avoid sleeping on your back, as this posture is known to trigger them.
2. Keep Track of Your Food And Drink Intake.
Eating dinner too close to bedtime can literally feed your nightmares, so try not to. Also eating cheese for dinner, another snack may cause trouble. You should also avoid high energy drinks, soft drinks, alcohol, coffee, and tea in the evening. These drinks contain caffeine which keeps you awake all night. 3. Release Your Stress And Relax Your Mind
The third way to stop having nightmares is to leave stress out of the bedroom. Exercising two or three times a week; will help you to release any tension you might be carrying home. If you’re not the athletic type, go for a walk in the evening to help you to clear your mind. Reading a good book is another option for you to relax and de-stress. However, from horror stories, thriller movies, and avoid anything that might spark your imagination and lead to nightmares for the obvious reasons.
4. Stick To a Routine
Being exhausted may lead to nightmares, therefore, try to limit your late nights to weekends and treat yourself to an early night occasionally. If you are aiming for a regular sleep pattern, you can reduce the occurrence of nightmares on a large scale.
5. Talk About The Problem
Another way to avoid nightmares is to face them. Whether it’s a work-related scenario or a memory from your childhood; talking about your bad dreams with a friend, partner, or relative can reduce anxiety and may help you to understand what is disturbing your sleep pattern.
6. Keeping a Dream Journal
Keeping a dream journal is the main way to prevent nightmares. By recording your dreams regularly, you can manage them, and you can change the ending in a nice way when you are about to have a nightmare.
